This standard sets up the fundamental practices of legal interpreting services and determines the competencies of legal interpreters. It additionally depicts the different legal settings and gives proposals to the relating interpreting modes.

The standard also plots capabilities needed for legal intermediaries. These have to do with general abilities, area explicit information in the legal field — including an “exhaustive comprehension of the role of attorneys, judges, legal officials, investigators, and interpreters.
